TorFX is a major provider of foreign exchange services with branches in Cornwall, London and Australia. It’s also a company committed to supporting and promoting local and national charities.
Of all the worthwhile causes TorFX supports, it has a particularly special relationship with The Children’s Society.
Running the London Marathon on behalf of The Children’s Society has become something of a TorFX tradition over the last few years, and this time around more staff members than ever before are getting involved.
Last year Managing Director Jon Beddell, Head of Business Development Colin Lawrence and Business Development Manager Alan Williams helped TorFX raise more than £10,000 for The Children’s Society by running the Marathon, and these gluttons for punishment will be donning their running shoes again on Sunday.
This year Adam Solomon, Louisa Northey, Mark White and Laura Parsons are joining Team Tor on their epic journey round London.
The past few months of training have seen their fair share of blood, sweat and tears, but through it all raising as much money as possible for The Children’s Society has been a top priority.
Since the onset of the 20th century the Children’s Society has been using your donations to help disadvantaged and vulnerable children from all over the UK have a brighter future, one where they can put years of neglect, abuse and loneliness behind them.
All contributions made to the charity, no matter how big or small, make a real difference and ensure that The Children’s Society can continue offering the respite, legal support, care and mentoring schemes which have turned thousands of children’s lives around.
In order to reach their pretty lofty target, TorFX has organised its annual Golf Day, a fantastic event in Puckrup Hall, Tewkesbury. The Golf Day includes a guest appearance by a top trick shot golfer, a charity auction with some incredible prizes (think signed premier league football shirts and helicopter flying lessons) and a three course dinner – all on top of an 18 hole round of golf on one of the UK’s most picturesque courses.
If you’d like more information about the Golf Day please contact Will Hewitson on +44 (0)1736 335270 or email [email protected].
On a smaller scale, Team TorFX have been fundraising by holding bake sales, dress down Friday’s, bacon buttie breakfasts and coercing co-workers and clients to dig deep and give generously.
The Cornish Pirates were also kind enough to let members of the team attend their recent home match against Pontypridd and collect donations from the crowd.
With just days to go before the big day, there’s still a lot of fundraising to be done.
If you’d like to contribute to the TorFX collection (and give our runners the extra boost they need to make it through the 26.2 miles) you can donate to our Virgin Giving page.
