Our Latest Sponsored Charity: Children’s Hospice South West

Posted by on November 15th, 2018.

Every month staff at TorFX work to do their bit for charity and help to raise both money and awareness for a different cause. The latest charity our staff chose to support was Children’s Hospice South West.

Children’s Hospice South West was founded in 1991 by Eddie and Jill Farwell as a result of their own experiences with the limited provision of hospice care in the region. In the years since then CHSW has opened three separate hospices across the South West; Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, Charlton Farm in Bristol and Little Harbour in St Austell.

Across these three sites CHSW provides support for more than 500 families in the region, helping them to make the most of their time together.

CHSW offers a range of different services to support families through their darketst times and enhance the lives of the sick children in their care; from short breaks and a dedicated siblings team to emergency care and bereavement support.

In order to deliver this essential support, offered to families at no charge, CHSW relies on the donations and support of the wider public. With hospices on average receiving less than a fifth of their funding from the government CHSW needs to raise millions of pounds each year to ensure it can continue to offer the best care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Bernadette Chambers, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for CHSW said:

“On behalf of all of the children and families that we support I would like to thank TorFX for their generous donation to the charity. Our hospices are a lifeline to families going through unimaginable circumstances. In those times we can provide a home from home with 24 hour care and support for the whole family. The focus in our hospices is on expert care, making memories and quite simply making the most of short and precious lives.”

Through a weekly Friday dress down collection our staff raised £405 for CHSW.

If you want to find out more about CHSW or organise some fundraising of your own then head over to their website and see what you can do to help support this vital service.
